9 Days in the Tahitian Islands
LT Globetrotter
Welcome to the ultimate island getaway. Made up of multiple islands in the South Pacific, including Bora Bora, and Moorea, the Tahitian Islands are famed for their over-water bungalows, vivid aqua water, and lush volcanic peaks. Tropical paradise at its finest, you can explore colorful markets, snorkel through stunning coral formations, and taste traditional Polynesian food… that is of course when you’re not basking on the white-sand beaches. Taking a trip to these islands is a dream-come-true, once-in-a-lifetime experience, so we created this helpful itinerary to help you make the most of your time in paradise.
Day 1: Moorea
Touch down in Moorea, where you’ll check in to your hotel or resort, get settled, and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Moorea is home to amazing marine life and aquatic activities, where you can get up close to nature. Depending on your arrival time, you may want to start exploring. Or just rest up until you try your first delicious Polynesian dinner.
Day 2: Moorea
It’s your first full day in Moorea, and you can experience its unique wonders with an array of exhilarating land and sea activities. Or simply relax on the powdery sands and cherish some of the most beautiful views on the planet.
Days 3-4 Moorea:
Set off on a safari experience and explore the ancient volcano that makes up the mountain range on Moorea. Next, visit the Mooreas Lycee Agricole (agricultural school) and its huge pineapple, vanilla, banana, grapefruit, and lemon plantings. Then head to a marae (a sacred dwelling for Polynesian societies) before driving to the Belvedere Lookout for stunning views of Cook and Opunohu bays. The final stop will be the Magic Mountain, where you’re rewarded with extensive views of the coastline, towns, and coral reefs of Moorea.
Day 5 – Moorea-Bora Bora
Today you’ll take airplane transfer from Moorea to Bora Bora, which means depending on your flight time you’ll have more hours experience in either location. Try not to plan too much this day and make sure to truly appreciate your gorgeous surroundings.
Day 6: Bora Bora
Spend the day at leisure—whether that means a catamaran sail, standup paddle boarding, or just relaxing on the beach. Then head to world-famous Bloody Mary’s for dinner. Known for its fresh seafood, signature cocktails, and unique ambiance, the restaurant-bar boasts sand floors and polished balm tree trunks for seats, all under a thatched roof.
Days 7-8: Bora Bora
Spend your days exploring the most iconic of all Tahiti’s islands, the backdrop of many movies, TV shows, and of course, celebrity sightings. Take a cruise that will allow you to swim with the graceful rays and blacktip sharks that reside in the lagoon, while enjoying the stunning coral surroundings.
Day 9: Bora Bora
Enjoy one last South Pacific sunrise before you depart for home, knowing you’ve captured so many memories to take with you.
