10 Days in Italy
LT Globetrotter
Italy is a country for foodies, art lovers, architecture enthusiasts, history buffs, and so much more. It’s a vibrant and incredible destination bursting with so many attractions that you’ll want to extend the stay as long as possible. In fact, there are so many things to discover in Italy, the hardest part can be building an itinerary. So we took 10 days and created an amazing itinerary that lets you get the most of your vacation in one whirlwind Italian adventure.
Day 1: Rome
Arrive in Rome and transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure, taking in the unique sights and savoring dinner. We recommend visiting Via Condotti, filled with amazing shops. After dinner head to the nearby Spanish Steps, which is a perfect place to enjoy a gelato and people watch.
Day 2: Rome
From the Trevi Fountain to the Colosseum, Rome’s abundant sights rival those of any other city on the planet. See then all on a hop-on/hop-off panoramic bus tour while listening to informative audio commentary. Other attractions include the Pantheon, Michelangelo’s Pizza del Campidoglio, Vatican City, Piazza Navona, and Olympic Stadium.
Day 3: Naples & Pompeii
Today you’ll be taking a day trip from Rome to Naples and Pompeii to explore the history, art, and archaeology of this captivating region. Tour the Gulf of Naples, site of the AD 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius that destroyed the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. A local expert will lead you on a guided walking tour of Pompeii, followed by a delectable lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Rome for the night.
Day 4: Rome to Venice
Today you’ll transfer to Venice via Rail Europe and check into your hotel before spending the rest of the day exploring Venice. Don’t miss out on experiencing Venice’s famous canals during a gondola ride.
Day 5: Venice
Embark on a walking tour of some of Venice’s most beloved landmarks, like the historic St. Mark’s Square, and visit the interior of its Byzantine-style Basilica. Stroll narrow, winding alleyways and admire sights, including Campo Santa Maria Formosa and the Church of San Giovanni e Paolo
Day 6: Venice
Head off on a “Tour to the Islands” to see the Venetian lagoon’s three most famous islands. First, visit peaceful Torcello—Venice’s oldest continuously populated region—and discover the city’s first church. Next, watch a glass-blowing demonstration on Murano, and then browse Burano’s famous lace shops.
Day 7: Venice to Florence
Transfer to Florence via Rail Europe, check into your hotel, and enjoy a relaxing evening with a decadent dinner and an initial exploration of the city.
Day 8: Florence
Get the most out of your trip to Florence on a hop-on/hop-off tour from an open-top double-decker bus. Stops along the tour include the Duomo, the Cathedral, Santa Croce, San Marco, and Piazzale Michelangelo.
Day 9: Florence
Spend the morning at one of the world’s most impressive art museums, the Uffizi Gallery. Once you’re good and hungry, it’s time for the ultimate tasting. Why just eat Italian when you can make it yourself? Learn the secrets of making authentic Italian gelato and prepare pizza the way the locals do during a cooking class taught by a professional chef. You’ll discover and taste many different gelato flavors made in Italy and sample an array of pizzas.
Day 10: Heading Home
Enjoy a final Italian brunch before transferring to the airport for your return flight home.
This is our favorite way to spend 10 days in Italy, but the of course the itinerary can be customized to add more days, visit different cities (Milan for example), or anything else you have in mind. Contact your Liberty Travel consultant today to start planning.
